BALLETCOLLECTIVE SUMMER SCHEDULE

Join BalletCollective in locations across New York City and the Hudson Valley (Poughkeepsie, Millbrook, and Amenia) for events and performances in July and August—including our first-ever Summer Season, the world premiere of immersive concert experience The Woods.

The Woods by San Fermin & BalletCollective is an immersive concert experience created by celebrated Brooklyn band San Fermin, led by composer Ellis Ludwig-Leone, and groundbreaking production company BalletCollective, led by director/choreographer Troy Schumacher (New York City Ballet).

Experience The Woods at its two work-in-residence preview performances during New York Stage and Film’s historic 40th Anniversary Season (Marist University, Poughkeepsie, NY), or at its world premiere at Pioneer Works (Brooklyn, NY) in a limited run of only two performances.

The Woods is presented by Pioneer Works in collaboration with BalletCollective & San Fermin. The creation of The Woods was made possible, in part, through a leadership gift from Stephen Kroll Reidy.

BALLETCOLLECTIVE IN MILLBROOK

BalletCollective's annual summer residency in Millbrook has been essential to our artistic process since 2015. Join us at Millbrook School's Holbrook Arts Center (Millbrook, NY) for the annual tradition of previewing our newest ballets-in-progress in advance of their world premiere in New York City in October. Performances will take place Friday, July 25 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, July 26 at 5:00 PM, and all attendees are invited to mingle with BalletCollective’s artists over drinks following each show.

BALLETCOLLECTIVE AT WETHERSFIELD

We invite dance lovers of all skill levels to the unparalleled experience of taking a movement class taught by professional ballet dancers in the historic Garden at the Wethersfield Estate (Amenia, NY)—for free.  A class for adults will be offered on Friday, July 18 at 9:30 AM and a class for children will be offered on Saturday, July 19 at 9:30 AM.  After each class attendees are invited to mingle with their instructors over lemonade and cookies and ask any questions they may have about a life in the arts.  Attendees are asked to wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement with sneakers and to please bring a yoga mat and/or towel.  We also advise attendees to bring a water bottle and sunglasses and/or a hat.  Please note, classes are free but registration is required.

TAKE CLASS WITH US

BalletCollective returns to Willow Dance Center (Poughkeepsie, NY) for the second summer in a row on Sunday, July 20 at 10:00am, offering a Master Class in ballet technique from 10:00am-11:30am, followed by a Repertory Workshop from 11:30am-12:30pm in which attendees will be taught excerpts from BalletCollective’s commissioned works.  Adults of all levels of ballet technique are welcome and encouraged to attend—the joy of movement is the only prerequisite! JOIN US FOR A LIVE CHOREOGRAPHY DEMONSTRATION AT UPSTATE ARTS WEEKEND

BalletCollective is honored to have been selected as an official participant in Upstate Art Weekend 2025. We will be hosting our signature event, Live Choreography—in which Artistic Director Troy Schumacher makes a short, original ballet to a song suggestion from the audience—presented by Willow Dance Center at the Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center (Poughkeepsie, NY) on Sunday, July 20 at 2:00 PM. Attend for the rare chance to witness the intimate dialogue that occurs between choreographer and dancer as art is made. All ages are welcome and the presentation will be followed by an audience Q&A with Schumacher and the dancers. Please note, tickets are free but registration is required.
